The Dangers of Spyware

by Ron Rogers

My friend is a sport fisherman, at least that's what he daydreams about, on a routine day he repairs PCs and performs an exceptional job and has earned a perfect reputation. When the geek gods send me a computer predicament, my friend is the emergency number I key-in and no matter how challenging or intricate the problem, give him some space and he'll ferret out a resolution. He mentioned something disquieting last time I saw him, it seems that 80% of the home computers he services have spyware or adware on their systems, and most people are ignorant of it; calling him when their machines slow or stall.

The Internet is akin to a living, breathing life-form always evolving, and not always in a helpful direction, though it surely has allowed me my career of choice. As the calendar turns and technology advances, so also does spyware & adware. It is vital in this day and age to have Spyware Removal software on your PC and to run it regularly; crucial is keeping the software up to date, since what may have worked yesterday may overlook a virus or spywarecreated since the previous scan.

As benchmark for this report (using a separate and clean system) I performed a test, removing any spyware removal software then purposedly visiting several auto surf sites. These surfing websites are ideal for new webmasters, allowing them the opportunity to deliver traffic to selected sites, simply by their at the sites of other newbies. The flow is like this:

The surfer is shown a site at random (usually category specific) and credits are debited to his/her account The credits are assigned to a site you want to promote. when other people surf, your site or offer will be displayed. It is designed to be a win/win scenario.

The person who first invented this is brilliant, there are some that (not all) of these surfing sites are either owned by or used by people with dishonesty on their mind. Their intent not to merely show an offer or website, but to send spyway to your computer. And today much of this spyware is sophisticated enough to begin the download of spyware onto your computer, simply by surfing to their marketing offer. I'm not knocking these sites or suggesting that all are bad, I am suggesting caution and stating you be convinced your computer is defended.

If this concerns you, statistics say you already have or will assuredly be infected by spyware or adware. If you're thinking, I don't visit those kinds of sites and I certainly don't install illegal software, then congratulations, but you are still need to be prepared. Take the your computer. Remember the old saying...

'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'

You must be the one to take the protective measures. A lot of what is on your hard drive, either from your job or personal reasons; just imagine opening your eyes up to find all your records erased. Frightening, completely... Possible?... It's happened to others. Stoppable? You bet by installing the most highly rated syware/adware removal tools.

Okay are you listening now, perhaps you're wondering what exactly will spyware and adware do to my computer. Great, glad to know you're thinking. For the most part spyware and adware are not were not coded to erase files, rather to report your surfing habits. Mostly they collect data then report back to someone/somewhere; they might trigger pop-ups and probably will stifle your system, slow your motherboard and decrease your connection speed to the world wide web. It's not so much the damage done, but the fact that your life, your privacy, your system has been breached and these people (whomever they are) have no right to be there.

Thankfully there are sharp men and women who feel precisely the way I do; these programmers want to take action. I don't know how to write code, I'm a writer, and I offer these thoughts to offer advance warning and propose you make preparations and guard your network. I applaud those defenders of safe browsing with the skill and heart to code then offer for public use these spyware removal programs.

Once you decide on one of the spyware/malware programs to install, I'd recommend frequent scans of your PC. If you set up the spyware removal tool properly, most of the grunt work is done on autopilot, and most likely in the middle of the night.
