Writing a Sales Page that is a Killer

by Dan Farrell

In marketing online, you have to remember three very important things. Have a warm expanding market, which wants and needs what you have to offer. You must make sure that what you have will solve a problem for them and benefit them in some way. Lastly, have one of the most powerful marketing methods around - a killer sales page that will close the deal.

Many don't realize that a great sales page will be the heart of your business so you must not neglect to put in the necessary effort to make one. Otherwise you will experience low or no sales. Here are some tips to get you started:

1. Find out how the master copywriters succeed. Go to Google and type in 'copywriters' and look at the first 10 websites at the top of the search. You can see what they do, how they set them up, etc. Don't steal their work, of course, but you can get some good ideas.

2. Understand the 3 P's of Copywriting

a. Make it personal

b. Make it precise and streamlined

c. Make it persuasive

3. Get your layout tailored into the three parts mentioned below. a. The first will be bringing to your reader's attention, the problem and emphasizing it

b. Next, you present your product or service and show the prospect how it will solve the problem they need help with. Show the benefits.

c. The conclusion will have the call for action and any guarantee you will offer, and so on.

4. Work on your headlines, first the main ones, then the sub headlines then the details get filled in. These headlines are going to be your salesman and must make the reader sit up and notice what you are selling. Good ones will draw the reader into the copy.

5. Make an iron clad guarantee so your potential customer will be more inclined to buy from you and have more trust in what you are selling.

Take the time to study up a bit on writing good copy. Every pro knows that no sales page is ever set completely in stone, and that a change in a word or two can increase sales.

A necessary part of getting your sales copy to produce conversions (visitors to buyers) is split testing. Here are some steps to do this:

1. Have two separate pages for the same product or service.

2. Make them slightly different

3. Track both of them carefully

4. Drive targeted traffic to both pages.

5. Monitor and note which one is bringing in the sales.

6. Use the one with the highest sales conversion

Mistakes to avoid:

1. Too much hype

2. Poor presentation

3. Using features instead of benefits

These are just a few pointers to help you make a start. Remember to think as a buyer and not a seller. If your page cannot convince you to buy the product or service then it certainly will not convince your reader.
